Dougy
Why don't they ever look at the obvious drain on the county's finances. No they would rather target our own nationals and continue to give free hand outs to those that have put B all in.
Weihrauch17
Add to this we have the third most expensive electricity in the world with all the green **** they have inflicted on us.
oldypigeonpopper
Hello, It states 1 in 3 Pensioners still do not get Pension Credit that they should Apply for as it looks like you will only get the winter fuel payments if you get this Credit but there maybe other benefits that this applies to, Ok so someone who was thrifty and saved hard to get a decent pension life will loose the Allowance to someone who saved nothing and just paid the basic Government pension payment gets the Heating allowance, Edited July 29 by oldypigeonpopper

Pushandpull
The trouble with cutting WFP is that there will be some just above the cut-off point who will feel aggrieved. What I would like to see is those who are due pension credit and similar top-ups getting these automatically which should be possible with modern IT. We will no longer get WFP and frankly don't need it so spend it where it is needed. The most derisory thing in the pension scheme is the 25p a week increase when you turn 80 - it takes more than a year to save for a bottle of average whisky. A couple of points; Many people who used to receive it didn't need it. Many on here used to save it for their cartridge fund, you save for whisky. Next it will become means tested and cost more to work out than it supplies to the genuinely needy.

All of us who saved for our retirement are going to get hammered left right and centre with this shower in charge . As usual those of us who have worked all our lives and payed our taxes funding the lazy toerags who have never lifted a finger to help themselves . oowee
Thank goodness. Rachel just saved us from 6.4bn yes that's billion on the asylum system. Settlement on pay for junior doctors. Fingers crossed they can get stuck into the back log. Cutting winter fuel allowance for those pensioners not on benefits. Another solid common sense move. What a breath of fresh air.
marsh man
To make extra savings , do you think it would be a good idea in charging a one off , or a yearly fee for a bus pass , I don't use mine much now I am by myself but most of us could afford a nominal amount , even £50 a year is only a quid a week and one trip would cost more than that .  MM What I was a bit grieved about was when they cut out the t v licence when you reached 75 , although the medical prescriptions are a good saving .  MM

Dougy
Why are there posts about saving money by impacting pensioners Yet nothing about reducing free hand out to the millions who've paid nothing into the pot How about you just leave your back card in the ATM with your pin # on a post it Edited July 29 by Dougy

Saved us all 6.4bn. Why give anyone a winter fuel allowance when they can afford it themselves.

Gordon R
Whilst labour are busy hitting the Winter Fuel Allowance and boasting about saving money on Rwanda, perhaps they might cut Foreign Aid. By repute it is a gold mine to be mined by people taking their slice, with very little ever going to the correct areas. India and China have said they don't need our money, but still we send it. My suspicious mind imagines many brown envelopes.

Lloyd90
Many on this forum said WFP should be means tested in the past.  If the Tories had brought it in I can’t help but feel there would be a thread here saying it’s about time …
JohnfromUK
41 minutes ago, Dougy said: Why are there posts about saving money by impacting pensioners Because most pensioners aren't Labour voters, so you can steal from them and not lose votes. Gordon Brown started that one. 42 minutes ago, Dougy said: Yet nothing about reducing free hand out to the millions who've paid nothing They ARE mainly Labour voters and are being rewarded. 14 minutes ago, clangerman said: hey prob have both proof and the guilty already lined up which is a bit sneaky of them In which case prosecute now - not waste more money on more ministers. If there is a case - fraud squad on the case and prosecute. If there is no case - forget it - don't pour more pounds chasing farthings.
