yates
I have just realised that it's now four years since I sat in the hide. Due to changes in circumstance ie divorce, relocation and lack of time etc, opportunities have been severely limited. Things have now settled and there is light at the end of the tunnel. I'll be dusting the cobwebs off the Miruko shortly. Has anyone else experienced similar problems like this
belly47
I had a ten year break from shooting for many different reasons. But got a new air rifle 3 years ago for my 40th. And have been out two or three times a week ever since. I now have firearms licence to add to the shotgun I already had. I missed out on ten years shooting and am so glad I got back into it. It really has changed my life for the better Would not be without it now

Scully
Once sold all my guns bar one (and that was just because no one in the trade would give me a fair price for it) due to a family crisis when I lacked both the funds and time to go out, but once that was resolved I got back into it and during the game season I shoot at least every weekend, and during the rest of the year when the nights are lighter I doubt if there is more than two consecutive days go by that I don't fire a shot or two when out with the dog. Couldn't be without my shooting; it is the only thing which keeps me sane.

malkiserow
I rarely go shooting but tell the Mrs that I am going for a walk with my gun. She informs me she does not go shopping but goes for a walk with a credit card She did actually say this back to me

Should be out on the roe next week , can't wait ..
welshwarrior
I at times have various gaps one of the issues of being in a service family we move quite often and trying to find new permissions again is a nightmare, been luck since our last move and been shoot regularly, moving again next month to an area I've not had much luck with in the past. Blunderbuss
When I had to surrender my pistols and revolvers in 1996, after shooting one way or another since the late 70s, I got the hump with it and also sold my rifle and shotguns. I didn't start again til 2008 but regret those lost years. Like many of us I lead a hectic life with lots of stuff competing for my precious free time. Shooting often loses out and I can sometimes go a few weeks with getting chance to go out. I'll never voluntarily give it up again though and look forward to early retirement (soon) when its going to be a much higher priority

I sold everything when that lot happened and I gave up my pistols. Didn't pick up a gun of any sort until 2006.

lakeside1000
I had been shooting from a young teenager until 1981, , a young family, moving house and a new job meant no time, so sold everything and gave it up, then 2012 just suddenly got the need to shoot pigeons again and now its almost full time, if im not out shooting, im making or modifying my kit, out looking for more perms or pigeons feeding, I also took up clay shooting for the first time as a serious sport and love it, I have now joined Norwich wild fowler's and cant wait for the season to open. Pothunter
I also had many years off; lost years which I'll never get back and now really regret. These days I shoot once or twice a week, rarely more than that, because I can't make the time, and almost never less, because I steadfastly make the time. These days shooting is really important to my sense of well being.
Pothunter
Perhaps also to note: I'm not getting out on the pigeons much lately, because they don't seem to be about.
Harnser
I have been involved in all aspects of shooting for over 50 years . I was an avid full bore rifle and pistol shooter and competed at county level for more years than I can remember. I have recently gave up deer stalking because I don't like to shoot deer any more . To old to shoot from the prone position any more so have gave up full bore target shooting . How ever , I am out pigeon shooting at least 4 times a week . I am a country man and will proberbly die in a pigeon hide . I often wonder how I had time to go to work .When did I last go out shooting ? About 8 hours ago . When will I go out again ? In about 8 hours time . Harnser Edited May 27, 2015 by Harnser
Grandalf
I always get a break at this time of the year due the area I live in. Heavily cultivated very large fields. Crops are much to high to see anything but roe. Extraction for one of them would be difficult without the aid of farm machinery on the tram lines. So I enjoy the break and concentrate on the fishing. Sea from a boat and fresh water.
Jbob
When I first got my SGC 10yr ago I was mad on shooting. When I met my wife it tailed of a bit as I wanted to spend time with her. 5 yrs later we got wed then had baby and moved house all in a space of 2yrs!!!! so over the past 5 yrs or so shooting has taken a back seat. I havent complained as spending time with her and now my little family has been special, but I am shooting a bit more theses days. My wife has even encouraged it as I think she can see I need my hobby more.
Davyo
I have just advertised all my gear and guns,( open to sensible offers) as I am partly retired and will be fully retired Oct 2017,I have decided after a good long think over the Bank Holiday weekend to dust off my course fishing gear, start doing a spot of green landing and I just ordered a new mountain bike yesterday. The rot set in with me last year, sold nearly all my kit and then the wife talked me out of it.So ended up buying Hundreds of pound worth of pigeon gear again and a photon XT for the Rimmy, she has even tried to talk me out of it again but understands that I no longer get that buzz and need something new. johnlewis
Having been brought up in a bungalow that was built in a brick field there was a high bank at end of long garden so a air rifle range ready made. So from a early age (7/8 yrs) I have had a air rifle (still have my .22 webley falcon) . At 16 got my 1st shotgun and shotgun cert, spent many years rough shooting which I enjoyed most of all. Once married and with children wife not happy about guns so left them in cabinet cleaning them when everybody out. Youngest turns 18, oldest lad wanted to try clay pigeon which I arranged at local rifle club both of us had a great time I missed every thing after 20 + year break, eldest had some coaching from club sec and started hitting right and left, he was hooked then youngest gets the bug and all 3 of us join rifle club I got my FAC now as well and both sons will soon be full members. Happy time are here again 58 yrs old and shooting rifles minimum 3 times a month.
