JDog
This is not definitive. The Bill now goes back to the Commons and if they refuse to amend it it goes back to the Lords. They then have the opportunity to pass it or continue to oppose it.
Danger-Mouse
A temporary setback I'm sure. It will go back to the Commons who will reject it and send it back to the Lords. Most of the media discussion has revealed there is unlikely to be significant appetite for a prolonged ping-pong battle between the Lords and the Commons over this issue so most likely it will be re-returned to the Commons without further amendment. panoma1
So the Lords want EU citizens to have the right to stay in the U.K.......has the EU agreed to give UK citizens the right to stay in the EU?
termin8r
I wouldn't worry about the Lords - the Government can always use the Parliament Act to override them... after all, there is recent precedence for that, isn't there? Doug That was Bliar and the Hunting bill. But it cannot be implemented straight away and certainly not in time for TM's end of March timetable. I think that she will have allowed for this and will succeed.
JRDS
The Parliament Act takes a year to invoke. Why are the Lords bothered more about Romanian Gypsies and the like above their own living abroad, they are not even advising a timeline of the 23rd June. A bunch of traitors desperate to get past the end of March with no A50 with any excuse to get to the next phase of disruption and cancellation of the June vote. More to come next week once they have had a break to capitalise on the taxpayer subsidised food and booze, shut it down and hang them. 12gauge82
Time for this outdated, out of touch and unelected house of leaches to be abolished I think, I hope they face a huge public backlash.

Mr. Merkel
In 6 minutes the number of signatures to the on line petition to replace the House of Lords with an elected upper house increased from 42,167 to 42,787 it will be interesting to see how much further it will run. Vince Green
The serious question is why half of them are there in the first place. The lords is a dumping ground, a way of paying off old favours, a rest home for failed politicians to side line them. Party donors can buy their way in, even (allegedly) ex mistresses in the past.
