old'un
Watching the BBC news earlier, the news reader asked the question should there be tighter gun laws to stop guns getting into the wrong hands? Gawd help us.
washerboy
If not one person was ever killed by a gun on the streets of this country I would gladly give up my rights to own and use a shotgun.

We will have to wait for a proper statement, news people are just speculating wildly at present. Blue lives matter? Yellow Bear
I suspect search has been stopped, partially due to Covid but mostly due to the "snowflakes" and "BLM" brigade making much of "human rights" forgetting any infringement made to the original victim. Walker570
It is thrity years now since I worked the streets and on a couple of occasions during my last few months in the job I did not have my regular partener in the instant response car with me. When ever I arrested anyone, they woukld be handcuffed behind their backs straight awy and then I would carefull check them over for weapons. I always checked the rear seat squab in our patrol car before starting any shift and regularly found knives under there pushed down by criminals who had been arrested but not handcuffed and searched. On quite a few occasions comments where made from young officers just starting out, like.. "Blimey your serious about the job arent you". Handcuffed behind their backs prevents them putting their arms over the seat and strangling you with the cuffs. I do not believe it has got any better. This incident should NOT have happened, period. JohnfromUK
Very sad. Condolences to family, friends and colleagues. I think we need to await full formal release of facts - as there seems to be mainly 'speculation' in the press at present.

243deer
This has happened because our judiciary has become so weak in the face of a small minority of public opinion, about which they are not supposed to take any notice, that the wrong doers are no longer scared in any way of the consequences of their actions
London Best
None of this can be true because Tony B. Liar banned concealable little guns.
Benthejockey
Handguns have been illegal for years now so it's surely not possible that the shooter used one is it? Or did the bad guys not get the memo? Youd like to think this would make the powers that be do something proactive and sensible but they'll just try and take guns off licensees instead.
