Bigbob
Would you no be better scarifying it then feeding it first then cut in a couple of weeks
Ultrastu
Mine I starting to grow I expect I will cut it mid march when we get a dry afternoon .just a little off the top .
Cosmicblue
Just scarified mine using one of these (had it for years) https://www.worldofwolf.co.uk/wolf-garten-multi-change-roller-moss-removal-rake-urm3 and it now looks thread-bare When the lawn starts showing signs of life I'll apply weed n feed, that'll kill off the remaining moss and encourage the grass to flourish. TIGHTCHOKE
Far too wet at the moment, happy to wait until I can get on to the grass when it has dried out a bit. Then I will cut at the highest setting and start to weed and feed to kill the moss and encourage new grass. Edited February 28 by TIGHTCHOKE Attention to detail. JohnfromUK
Several locals have, but it's been a bit too wet here (interpret as I've been too lazy).
Yellow Bear
Grass still growing but since 10/23 ground too soft to do anything on let alone mow. Trouble is long grass takes time to dry out and garden needs about a week of dry and windy weather before the first cut.
millrace
Never stopped,,,even found time on xmas eve!, best shape its ever been in at spring time!
London Best
Introduced the lawn to John Deere a couple of days ago. Very wet down the side which gets no sun because of the neighbours towny fence. Actually, “ lawn” is rather too posh a term for what is more a patch of grass. (and moss, of course).
enfieldspares
I never cut until we've had a few days free of frost and some to follow after. I was told by my father's gardener that otherwise the grass is harmed if just cut and that night a hard frost?

I have also heard that, but never seen any evidence of it myself. This year we have barely had a frost .............. but the council have been spreading copious amounts of salt everywhere to the extent it kills the grass verges and the once abundant daffodils therein are now struggling to survive. Rim Fire
The first one i seen cut grass in the frost was Monty Don if it's good enough for him its good enough for me

There's two times of the year you can Scarify your lawn Autumn or just now but the big difference is the type of feed you put on after scarifying it , In Autumn a more root feed one just now nitrogen to boost the grass to grow
Minky
Our lawns have needed a topcut for several weeks but the rain has been pretty constant. The weather has been very mild this far southeast and the grass on the rear south facing lawn was 3..4 inches and it just wasn't drying out. So Yesterday was really quite warm in the sun and I managed to get the strimmer on the grass with a long line. That was fairly tough. I then raked it with the spring time rake and dumped it in the garden bin. After this I got the small rotary with the plastic deck set up high and went over the front and rear lawns. Really needed a week of sunshine. Ps. I don't need any fertiliser on the grass or else it would need the long reach hedge cutter on it.
