Delwint
Maradona has passed away. Despite robbing us with the Hand of God goal. He was an excellent football player
oscarsdad
A cheat and a druggie doesn’t really deserve the amount of praise he is getting today in my view - he was certainly not a true sportsman. JDog
He was a very good footballer in his time but a weak character short of morals.

oldypigeonpopper
Hello, not really a football person but the way I see it fame can lead to many human traits but with him it seems he took the wrong path,
nobbyathome
i agree he was a cheat but look at the players today are they any better? probably better at diving to get goals etc same difference really in my opinion he was good in his time and drugs were his downfall i personally never liked the man but wish him peace rip
nobbyathome
we all remember him for cheating england in the world cup but not many of us remember his second goal in that game that was a good goal

clangerman
talent or not the famous taking drugs sets the example that leads to kids becoming junkies anyone famous taking the filth needs to made a nobody in very short order
chrisjpainter
Being good at what you do is no indication of the kind of man you are. It's sad that a person has died, but as has been mentioned, the drinking, the drugs, the outbursts all tarnish whatever hand he was dealt in terms of footballing ability. He, like too many others goes into the category of 'a great player but...'

Vince Green
Another example of the true price of fame, like so many footballers, rock and pop stars, film stars etc before him. They burn so bright but then they cant cope with the life it brings with it.
yates
I agree with most comments. A genius, for me personally the best footballer ever as he plied his trade when defenders were allowed to kick the living daylights out of their opponents. His second goal against England is rated as the best goal of all time and rightly so. But he flawed and made many mistakes. The biggest crime for myself as a Sheffield United fan is that we refused to sign when was 16. What a mistake that was
AVB
Scored a couple of decent goals. Was a cheat, drug addict, alcoholic with low moral values. I won’t miss him.

figgy
I find no surprise in his demise. Man abused himself for years. To watch the deluded turn out and run down the streets crying is ridiculous. You'd think he was there best mate. Unless it's all his dealers trying to get paid what's owed. He kicked a bag of wind about, was no idol to be looked upto, no role model for younger players. A cheat and waste of time as a man.
