Rob85
Just seen the brother of the terrorist who blew himself up at the Manchester arena was just sentenced to 55 years. Apparently they couldn't give him a whole life sentence because he was below some legal threshold at the time of the offences committed. Thoughts on the sentencing? TIGHTCHOKE
It's a good start, just a shame we are all paying to keep him out of danger! A lot more sentences should be this long, it might be a deterrent for out travelling thieves and murderers

A lot more sentences should be this long, it might be a deterrent for out travelling thieves and murderers I was told that courts are giving homeowners (or renters) more benefit of the doubt over clobbering a burglar, but I think burglaries would go down if people were given some legal protection when it comes to defending your property from the dregs of society that try to take it. I dont in any way condone giving someone 2 warning shots to the face for being in your house but defending yourself from violence by whatever means necessary should be allowed and the scum should not be allowed to sue for their injuries. scouser
55yrs, Cost a fortune to keep the scumbag, should have been given the rope.

I don't see why it should cost a fortune. Surely gruel isn't that expensive.
Gordon R
I was pleasantly surprised by the sentence. Our legal system takes a panning, but that is how it should work. I take my hat off to the judge. Edited August 20, 2020 by Gordon R
butchdickason
I hope one of the inmates at the prison does for him. He should get the death penalty.
mel b3
I would rather he was burned alive , but in the absence of that option , 55 years will do . We can only hope (and I really really do hope) that he gets viciously beaten and killed by another prisoner.
Pistol p
I think its a bit tame. I'd have preferred if he'd have been loyal enough to stand next to his scumbag brother at the scene of the crime.
Centrepin
Yup, 55 years that ought to be per victim, back to back.

Scully
I’d rather he were put out of societies misery, but as long as he doesn’t get released prematurely ( which he will ) then I’d be quite happy with that.

team tractor
I spent 24 hours locked up in February and the custody sergeant said it’s £1200 a night . £1200 a night I never even had a tv 😂 . he asked if I had any comments. I said yes I’m never using trip advisor again 😂😂. . I came home in my new clothes and my mum said “ that’s a nice top . Where’d I get it ? It’s free with every stay in a cell . a local lad just got 30 years for killing a local girl . He’ll be out at 50 . life should mean life. Jim Neal
Length of sentence means little - when's his parole? After how long is he going to be released on the quiet? I think the punishment should fit the crime. Put him in a grain hopper and chuck a hand grenade in after him.
