David Cameron. I misjudged this man.

Throughout his time in office I thought he was a decent individual with a good moral compass. He even did a 'Lord Carrington' and resigned when the Country voted for Brexit, a vote that he instigated despite his stated aim of keeping the UK in the EU.

Now I read that he made £7m in a short time working as a 'part time advisor' to Greensill Capital before that Company collapsed. That included an annual salary of £720,000 and share options worth £3.3m. When it was obvious that Greensill would collapse Cameron sent 56 messages to Ministers and Senior Civil Servants in order to persuade them that the Bank of England should invest £10bn of Tax payers money to rescue the Company.

There was a panorama covering this on the BBC last night - should be on iPlayer

I met him just after he became MP for Witney - and I went home and said to the wife that I have just met the man who will beat Blaire - I was nearly right - that was just based on his smarmyness TBF....

He's a politician..🤑

This. Like JDog, I too thought he was a canny bloke when instead of jumping on the bandwagon following the shootings in Cockermouth, he stated that ‘you can’t legislate’ for such things.
But, when all’s said and done he is just that, a politician, and it’s been a long long time since anyone entered politics with an agenda which wasn’t one of self interest.

People comment all the time that the PMs job pays less than loads of other high level city jobs.

I'm sure they accept this knowing they will make money afterwards,  but it's still not a job I'd want.

Many MPs make a mint doing lectures as well so its certainly not something new.

I agree entirely with JDog. One of the things I liked about Cameron was, he was a pragmatist and didn’t preach. I haven’t seen the documentary, did any this occur whilst he was in office or after?  I guess he found it hard trying to earn a decent crust writing his memoirs in a shepherds hut whilst his mate Osborne was earning millions with his six jobs! Now Osborne was a man I didn’t trust....

I don’t always agree with Peter Hitchens but he does make you think and isn’t afraid to stick his head above the parapet.

I can still remember when I thought that Tony Blair was a decent and honourable  man.  Ask me what I think of him now 😬.

I'm amazed anyone was taken in by him, talking of his idea of the big society where we're all in it together, what a crock of ****.

Not to mention the Panama papers.

Farage is probably the most honest politician out there at the moment.

Amen to that!  :good:

That old joke! Why in Westminster outside Parliament and along The Mall outside Buckingham Palace are the lamposts are all swan necked like this...so you can't get a rope around them!

Make no mistake- Cameron and his kind are no fools - they have a talent for staying on the right side of the law, however their moral compass is broken beyond repair.

They are part of an elite- Eton educated gang who have each other’s back’s covered, and their network of associates all have their heads in the trough.

Wait 10 years and Boris will be doing the same thing.

Well I’m relieved to know that the morally correct people of Pigeon Watch would turn down £7,000,000 in easy money to sit on a board and introduce others to your contacts 👀🤣

Whilst people will slate him, if you left your current employer and another company offered you a huge pay packet to do similar most people would go for it 🤷‍♂️…
