Not a very nice thought but one day we will be leaving the earth we were born in and lived all our life on , so when the day come have you thought about what songs if any that  are played at the service , just recently I have been to three within a matter of weeks , the one I went to during the week was of a chap we spent many happy days together messing about in our gun punts and enjoying life in a totally different era of today , one of the songs played at his funeral was Mary Hopkins , Those Were The Days My Friend , it seemed to fit the bill perfectly , at my wife's funeral I picked The Seekers , The Carnival Is Over , again to me that was how we spent most of our years together , If I had to pick one today it would be , The Bee Gees , Don't Forget To Remember Me . So now over to you ?   MM

Mine would be a quite recent [2019] track from Jacob Bryant,,,, who's he you may ask ? 😆 There are a few older ones I could choose, but this one suits me 🙂

Just change Whiskey to Whisky, and Jim Beam to Aberlour 👍😁 🥃

"When I'm gone, don't bring me pretty flowers
And don't sit and cry for me at my tombstone
Come and visit me in the midnight hours
With your party on
Think of me and recall all the good times
And bring your memories and a bottle of ol' Jim Beam
And take a swig as a haunted honky-tonk man chants
And remember me
Pour whiskey on my grave, let it seep into my bones
Have a drink with me, even when I'm gone
I'll do the same for you, if you'll do the same for me
Turn it up and take a shot, set my spirit free
Don't forget the promise that you made
Pour whiskey on my grave
When my time's up, don't let the good times be gone
Let me still go out like I wanted to go
Kickin' it up and drinking with my boots on
With a rebel soul
Pour whiskey on my grave, let it seep into my bones
Have a drink with me, even when I'm gone
I'll do the same for you, if you'll do the same for me
Turn it up and take a shot, set my spirit free
Don't forget the promise that you made
Pour whiskey on my grave
When I'm gone, don't bring me pretty flowers
Don't sit and cry for me at my tombstone
Come and visit me in the midnight hours
With your party on"

Entry to Louis Armstrong, What a Wonderful World.
Final music and exit to my favourite of all time, William Tell Overture by Rossini, starting from 7 minutes in, Bringing Home the Cows (nice and peaceful) and when they hit that trumpet for The March of the Swiss Soldiers you can all go.

Hi-Ho Silver, I’m outa here!

ps: and if there are any vicars present, I will come back and haunt them!

As expected a great mix of songs and music , I can't remember when I last went to a wedding but the amount of funerals I go to seem never ending and when they talk about three weddings and a funeral I recon it is now 15/20 funerals to one wedding , might well be more odds than that , we have to face facts that none of us are getting any younger and little things like sorting out the songs and music at the service will no doubt help those who are sorting the details out .none of us are immortal and it's good to talk about these things rather than think the time will never come .   MM

what i would really like ..is to be put on a proper pyre...made of oak and ash...on the acle marshes one evening ...and there would be a trestle table there with keg ale barrells on it and another with a white line cloth o it with the best sausage rolls and pasties you have ever tasted....and folk would turn up and be warmed bythe fire and have good food and drink and a good time ....

but laws would prevent that from happening...........them saxons knew a good time when they saw it........

A very weird funeral i went to the song as we left was ACDC "Thunderstruck" the guy was one of the nicest guys you could ever know.

The chilling thing was he was hit by a Voyager train, it came back to the depot i worked at to be cleaned. The circumstances were unknown until some time after, very sad indeed.
