Danger-Mouse
So the old boy won't be doing any official engagements any more, other than the odd family get together or remembrance service. Diplomats can now heave a sigh of relief.

ips
Would you want to work till you're 95 though? And be in the public eye and have everything you do or say scrutinized. I wouldn't for any amount of salary. Being a royal or indeed a high profile politician or celebrity does not look fun at all to me.

chrisjpainter
The man's an extraordinary force of nature. 95 years old and has only just retired from a spectacularly busy schedule and still races carriages. A job well done

He said to my mate "I bet he would be good on the Roe!" My mate said he thought it was a great laugh when he said "I'll bring him down your estate to try if you like!" 😂😂 Edited May 4, 2017 by Lloyd90

Have spoke to him a couple of times when I worked in the palace many moons ago and he's surprisingly down to earth . I seriously wish him well , his service to the country is exemplary.. Think your post shows a hint of jealousy as you have admitted you would like the job if it came up at the job centre.

marsh man
I had the privilege of meeting him several years ago on one of our shooting days , the day was freezing cold with snow on the ground , he had a pair of laced up boots on and a tweed suit , at the time the guns wagon didn't have any windows in so he followed us in his range rover so he could see round the estate . The odd drive I saw him shoot he could certainly hold his own and there wasn't to much that got passed him , in my gun cabinet I have got a couple of cartridges he was using , they were paper cases , fibre wad and from the Sandringham Shooting School . On the day he was very down to earth although his security guards made sure you didn't get to close , at the time he must have been 80 or very close to it . I for one hope he has several years left to enjoy his retirement .
wandringstar
yes, a good man, the duke of Edinburgh award scheme showed he cared, I liked his outbursts, maybe when him and his wife pass away, it may be time to call the whole thing a day, I have zero time for the rest, they are all a bunch of liberal multiculturalists and irritate intensely. four-wheel-drive
I am not in any way a Royalist but I give him credit he has done a good job over they years and deserves to take it easy for what time he has left I think that the Queen will go on till she drops it is the job that keeps her going I tend to think that when she goes they should finish with this Royalty thing as most of us have outgrown it. Not that I expect many of you to agree with me but they are my thoughts for what they are worth.
